Hi All,

newbie from Eltham, passed last summer and bought a k5 650 - been lurking for a while but have a question so thought it was time to post..

After someone on a previous thread said the standard exhaust sounds like a sowing machine that is now all I can hear so am looking for an upgrade. Has anyone got recommendations? Plus a good garage?

Thanks, Phil

ello!

I can recommend Hindle exhausts, I had one on the SV and it sounded great and they aren't that common either. Thor has one on his SV but apart from that, I haven't actually seen any others.

I can recommend Lamba Motorcycles in Carshalton, its where I have taken the SV and now the CBR (even though they don't usually deal with Honda's).

Welcome to the fold.

Any can that you put on the SV will make it sound better than stock, so its really down to price and look.

Top of the range stuff like Renegade, Akrapovic, M4, Yoshi are all very cool, but comes at a price and can be full systems if required, then your midrange stuff like scorpion, remus, Hindle are all functional well made (or at least it seems) stuff. Then theres your budegt brands. CCC, Viper and such like. These will give you the noise, for few of your earth pounds, and probably fall apart after a year of abuse (Dont quote me on that)

Now, there has been some bad press about Blue flame. I started it, but i dont seem to be the only one. If this is what you choose, then its up to you, but remember, there are others out there.

As for garages

I have used Premier in West Wickham since i have had the bike. They are very good, and a main dealer. Im looking at taking it to an independent dealer soon. They done a fantastic job on my scooter many years ago so i'll check them out.

I like Scorpion cans

whatever brand you get, make sure you can (and do) take the baffle out

You'll have to cut your existing pipe to fit it - hacksaw or angle grinder will do the job

If you don't fancy doing that yourself, pop along to one of the Selkent meets now that the evenings are getting lighter, and I'm sure someone will do the surgery in the car park for you

check out Sexisi's post in the For Sale section - he's selling a Renegade - they're good cans, but might be a bit loud

I have a Wolf and have to say that I should have paid a little bit more and gone for a Scorpion or Remus (mmmmm Remus). Nothing Wrong with the Wolf, but after seeing the difference in fit of the Remus that Viney attached to a bike the other week it kinda showed that the Wolf wasn't made as well. It sounds great though and I'm still very happy with it indeed.

cheers all for the quick response!

Looks like it will be a remus or scorpion going on your replies then, is there a favoured dealer or is a web search in order?

Thanks

Its not the right can for the SV. Sorry Si of the sexy variety, but its not.
