Default Make your own dash?

Hi all,

Just converting my faired model to a 'street-fighter' and have a template made for a mini dash but just need to know how easy it would be to 'tap in' to the loom to pull off feeds for the indicators/neutral/oil lights etc. I plan on using a push-bike speedo with a Datatool rev-light but would also like some warning lights.

Does the original speedo pull apart completely or is it all on a circuit board?

Does anyone have any smashed clocks (1999 faired) they want to sell me?

Also I saw in Maplins they do a 'rev light' kit. Anyone used these and do they know if they are easy to make/fit?

First off, the curvy faired clocks are, annoyingly, one piece units.

If you want idiot lights, they come thru the one connector. Main problems will be that the 'checklight status' when you turn on the ignition will be lost as these are done with elec-trickery.Fuel wont have two-stages unless you rig up two warning lights.

If i get my new Acewell clock (fitted today ) working ok then i will have a set of naked clocks that were smashed to bits. If you want the internals gimmie a pm. There is the speedo dial (has abt 17K on it) and it's circuit inc. water temp and oil temp lights. The rev counter dial and it's circuit. None of the other idiot lights are there, you'd need the front loom from a naked, which it'd be wise to use for the block connectors anyway. This is bare clocks, no cowl, unless you want the smashed bits????

I do have smashed clocks. Why I still have them I will never know. As has been stated, they are on one circuit board. Quite normal really. I would sell you (or even give you) these clocks, but seriously doubt that you would find any use for them. They got rather a severe beating.

After my clocks got destroyed beyond recognition, I ran with a Halfords speedo for quite some time. I got used to not having idiot lights or a rev counter. It's surprising how soon you learn to know what the engine is doing by the tune it is making at a particular speed to know what gear you are in.

Default Dash

What Halfords speedo did you use and what speed does it go up to?

Was it easy to fit?

Cheers
Ian

I really can't remember now. It was just a basic one that worked using magnet. It was accurate enough up to the legal speed limit. Past that, was not quite so accurate. But hey, illegal is illegal right? It told you when you were going too fast and that was enough.
