Default Anyone Else dealing with the Year End Blues?

Blimey, it's days like today when I wonder why I'm going into Accounts? First chance I've had for a surf, and tomorrow will be worse.

Someone tell me their year end is worse!

I'm suffering a bit. All my assignments are due nowish as well as my dissertation. I've got a fair few exams in May and I need to find a new job to start at the beginning of June.
Oh, and I have 3 projects on the go for the company I work for atm.

I've had a bit of a result re year end -

The companies that I've been doing the accounts for for 10 months have now been handed over to a bloke who has just transferred to us from a group company - just in time for year end ha ha!

In turn, i have taken over all of his companies (FD wants us to know all our companies' accounts inside out) - and they have just had their year end and audit, so i've completely dodged both this year!

Mind you, am in charge of the budget consolidation (involving a huge group of companies) - not fun.

Yes. Bloody beancounters!

I had an email from beancounter central yesterday claming I owed them 102.63 and should pay it by the end of the tax year (3 days time). First i've heard...

Called them up and asked what the hell they were on about. I aparently overclamed on my expencies. Except, I didnt. The head of accounts went through my hotel bill (he cant read japanese but this didnt stop him seemingly) and took the 1st 3 items and multiplied them by the 6 days. Not takeing into account breakfast. So it took me a good hour of going through a hotel bill in Japanese highlighting what the company should be paying for!

In the end it turns out I had overclamed a whole £15.30 by mistake Which they waved.

Ah such fun eh?

That's why I employ an accountant, so that I don't have to deal with all that blurb

Dont get involved with year ends normally but as my company ceases to exist on that day and we become a public company again. (good bye South East trains hello South East Trains) I have a job on day one as they cant sack me but on day two I could be made redundant subject to the terms of my contract.

We are having an OK March in £ terms but v v busy with about 20 - 30 completions stacking up for April. I have a few solicitors on the other side whining cos I haven't answered their letter of last week So in April we'll be rich but not for long - May will be tough cos I won't have any work left. This sort of lumpy cashflow means I can't easily take someone on, cos employees are unreasonable and want paying So I have to work like stink the next 4 - 5 weeks and hope that everything comes off and no cases get pulled, else it's bread and water for May/June. And somehow find the time to plan and do some marketing so that we have work over the summer.

Cheers Everyone, feel better now!

Why is it that every year no-one is prepared? April doesn't move y'know, it still comes after March!!

Hey ho, back to the grindstone. At least after today it's no longer my problem, my stuff will be in.

Nutty.
