Can straps - are they universal?

Afternoon,

I've a used [thanks SexySi!] Renegade oval exhaust that I want to fit over this coming Bank holiday weekend. I've the can, the link pipe and a pair of clamps. So am I right in thinking that leaves me just short of the strap bit to allow a standard mounting position?

What I'd also like to know is can I just buy a strap for any oval can and use it or must it be Renegade brand specific? I'm in Dublin so if I don't have to bother with waiting for postie to ship me a strap that'd be great.

Don't take it as law but most cans will vary in diameter so some straps will be too tight and some too slack and some just right. It's just finding the right fit.

One that's a little tight can be rectified with a washer or two between strap "ears" to space it out but there's not a lot you can to to one that's too slack. When you squeeze the "ears" together then it should be a snug fit but not in any way compress the can.

Take a bit of care on this one, if the strap's too loose it lets the can work loose over bumps meaning the bike suddenly goes very loud, and the Can attempts to exit stage left! Annoying even if it doesn't choose to dig into the ground and have you off

Give Jorge a call at renengade. You should have one at the end of the week if you do it today

Check the diameter of the can and get one off ebay if its cheaper.

Doesn't have to be renegade specific. I'd rather not buy anything from renegade (cheap shoddily made tat in my opinion although Im sure the straps are fine!)

The few dealings I've had with regade I've found their after sales service to be 2nd to none, and the pipework has always looked good and held up well, plus if you crash they can rebuild the cans and try to charge you as little as possible. Can't ask fairer than that

True. However, their exhaust styling is what I would call....minimal...badging...minimal...welding...ve ry amateurish (compare it to CCC or even better, remus)

Customer care, ace, but their systems lack some amount of decent design input.

I have a hanging bracket for a CCC stainless steel oval if you want it, just PM me your address and I will drop it in the post.

Don't know if there will be any delay with the post over the Easter break.
