Default Avoid Equity Red Star like the plague.

I got my insurance through Bennetts for my new SV650. I just called them to tell them that I have now fitted a aftermarket can. They now tell me that the insurer allows no modifications at all so I am currently un-insured! WTF??!

What a fecking rip.

Read your insurance documents carefully. If thats the case, then put the standard one back on until you sort out another policy.

But its unusual for companies to be that rigid in all honesty.

Most people wont actually know Equity is the insurer until they get their policy - most go through the brokers, get a quote, agree it and pay.

But ime, Ive had no problems with equity.

Can I suggest next policy you get you read the terms and if you have a problem with them [such as making modifications] you cancel it in your 30 days grace period? Might save you the grief or perhaps unfairly blaming Equity for you not reading the terms and conditions.

Call em back right away and tell them that you have put the standard can back on. Put it in writing to them too so they have no rrom to wriggle out.

Then have a look at e-bike as toady said.

I saved a helluva lot of money by going with them.

Bennetts will not touch you with an after market can.

ERS are hard work to deal with when you need to make a claim. Even though my claim was against the guy who hit me, they played silly beggers with valuation, removed my NCB, which was restored after I complained.

When I went to E-Bike, they were cheaper, easier to deal with and allowed modifications without problem. Just checked and my after market can is even listed in the schedule.

bennetts are friggin awful for me, i pay 199 quid fully comp with bike-team now including mods

the cheapest bennetts quote was about 1700

they keep sending me stuff through the post enquiring about why i haven't taken their "great price" - it is filed appropriately

I had an ERS policy through Carole Nash and changing the can was fine.

I've read the terms and no where does it state that I cannot add mods. Bennetts is who I went through ad they are the ones saying that Equity will not allow me to add mods. I think I will phone them direct to ask them if I can add something.
