Default Number plate issue. Advice needed.

I have been on a website looking at a new number plate,
Its the fonts, can i have them in a carbon look or do they have to be plain black.
I want to stay legal so no problem with the size.
Cheers
Grant.

You may not have been tugged but your plate is still illegal x2.

Basically, if the plate does anything at all that you like, it's probably illegal But most people find that as long as you don't take the mick, it's a relatively smooth ride. Mine is a bit smaller than legal but otherwise looks much like the real thing- proper font scaled down a little, small borders, nothing that makes it particularily hard to read. Never had so much as a comment any time I've been, er, involuntarily talking to society's protectors

But fi you put on a single line, or a tiny one, or anything with different colours or fonts, you're far more likely to get your collar felt. It does tend to work itself out in a fairly logical way.

http://www.dvla.gov.uk/vehicles/regm....htm#after2001

If you scroll down on the above page it will tell you requirements for motorcycle registration plates.

Bear in mind ANY deviation from the above is illegal.
