Default IAM Skills 4 Life Assessment

Just had my free assessment ride tonight with the Scarboro' IAM. What a nice bunch of people. Good tips about road positioning and anticipation of hazards. I'm signing up for the test - 10% off insurance too (when you've passed)

Doesn't that depend on the insurance giving you a discount for the IAM pass

I want to do some advanced training too, my local 'troop' is Northallerton

Hi Bluebell, Yes it was me. I stand out 'cos I've got a blue/silver lid and a copper bike (must get a new lid). A quick blast up the coast, back over Fylingdales to Pickering, across to Fimber for a coffee and home for lunch.
I think the Scarboro' IAM 'lessons' start in June?

You're right and I bet Carole Nash don't give the discount

BTW I noticed that although my bike has a 2 year Suzuki warranty, the Suzuki Assistance is only for 12 months, so I've taken out breakdown cover with Carole Nash for YR2....Anyone been caught out by this, thinking that they've got Assistance for 2 years

I didn't know that either, but I do have cover through my insurance anyway Typical Suzuki though

I did the IAM Skill for life course with Salford IAM group and I have to say that I would highly recommend doing it not only for the experience but also for the fact that the runs out I had were always excellent, it was always like going out for an decent ride with one of your mates rather than feeling like you were on a lesson. Also my insurance knocked off about £30 for doing it too which is a bonus, especially as the course only cost £75 to start with!

The guy that I had the lessons with works also at Riverview motorcycle training in Bolton and I have to say that with how he was with me on the IAM lessons I'd recommend them also for rider training.

Default length license held for....

I know this is an old thread but I'll give it a go anyway....

Just a quick question about the IAM Skill 4 life package. Does anyone know if you have to have held your license for a minimum amount of time before you can do the training (want to do my bike IAM)?

I have had my bike license (DAS) for 1 year, and my car license for 9 years.

Cheers!
