Default TRIUMPH SPEED FOUR

These are due to be discontinued by Triumph shortly. A couple of main dealers are selling new ones for £3995. Seems like a bit of a bargain and i have always liked the oddball looks.
Any thoughts or experiences with these bikes?
Is it likely to be any better than the SV?
Cheers.

I borrowed one when my Speed Triple was in for a service. They're very underrated bikes with great handling. The IL4 engine is gutless at low revs (well, compared to the immensely torquey triple), but it's certainly a quick bike. I'd say that it's a bargain at that price. The Triumph bellypan improves the looks considerably. Haggle with the dealer for one.

I took one on a test ride a couple of years back, typical IL4 where you need to keep it above 8k for the fun to happen. Chassis is boss, tracks really well aand has sportsbike manners. Brakes are top, miles better than SV.
Only two things I didn't like the FI was a bit off/on and lack of wind protection when you're 100mph+.
Good price, if they've re-mapped the injection to make it fuel cleaner it'd be a good buy for a long term keeper. The value of a discontinued model falls faster than a pound coin at a referee.

Triumph have a policy of continuously developing and updating the FI maps, so the current map is almost certainly an improvement on a couple of years ago.

My bruv has one and has run it for a few years.

Beautiful handling.

Good build quality

Excellent brakes

Only thing that has gone wrong was a gasket had to be replaced (under warranty) (but this is very common for that engine)

Personally I find it a bit gutless around town.
