Last week i made a post saying i'd not checked my chain tightness for a while and when i did it was an embarrassing 70-80mm !!! well 6 days later ive checked it again and it's gone back to 70-80mm slack !!
When tightening the chain it is difficult to turn the near side adjuster and the offside is really easy to turn. Any ideas why im having these problems ? Im following the Haynes manual on adjustment so im undoing the axle and torque arm. Adjusting my chain to the correct slack (evenly on each side) and tightening the axle and torque arm to the correct torque. any help please ? cheers in advance. ash |

The adjuster bolts are prone to seizing up. Try undoing the one thats tight to see if its seized. They are quite easy to remove, clean and grease.

As above, but with added "sooner, rather than later" on the chain replacing. Not funny having a chain fail and there have been some fairly nasty incidents in the past.

i'd say loosen off the caliper stabiliser bar thingy.
i had this problem myself!! also, i dont know if you are... but always tighten and check the tension when you are sat on the bike!! its surprising how much difference this can make! |
