Default Agony...

How do you guys (and gals) who ride SV650S do it?? My bike was having new tyres fitted today so I borrowed a '06 S from the garage and after 3 miles my wrists were aching, my back was aching, the tops of my arms were aching and I'd had enough of waving my bum in the air...

I salute those of you who commute on them... it must be I'm just too old

It gets better. I found it marginally uncomfortable at first but that soon stopped... Then I found it pretty well horrendous when I got back on after my accident, but that passed too.

I've never had problems riding the S. I did ride an upright naked bike for 3 days and I've never had so many aches and pains though. My back hurt, my wrists ached and my arms were very painful.

Each to their own I guess.

yep, got to agree with kate, riding upright or feet forward kills me bones & bum

the sv650s is the comfiest bike I have ridden

you can actually get quite comfy leaning over the tank, keeps you out of the wind as well

but then again, I am the "proverbial shortie" at 5:6" so the bike fits me perfectly

The SVs does need good posture to be comfortable, and to be honest, alot of 'sit up and beggers' I see riding about always have appaling posture - they tend to get into the lazy habit of slouching with their lower back.
Do that and an SVs and yes, all the weight will suddenly be on your wrists and you shoulder/neck show the strain too.

Arch your back slightly, kinda pushing your hips towards the tank and it's a whole different ball game - a comfy one. Also grip with your knees, you'd be amazed how much that takes off your wrists.
