Default Tricks and more besides.

What’s your fave trick that you can do? And which one do you wish you could do or want to do??

Examples of tricks are:-

Wheelie
Standup wheelie
Burnout
Stopie
Kneedown
‘Backing it in’
Leaving a ‘darkie’ (skid)
Leaving a ‘darkie’ (spinning up)

Personally I would love to be able to spin the rear on the exit of a corner to the extent where it smokes up … like you see in WSB MotoGP etc … to be fair even with the best intensions the SV hasn’t enough grunt for that trick, but nevertheless that is what I wish I could do!! I think that is so coooooooool

Can spin it up, back it in and kneedown. Don't like wheelieing and I can only stoppie for about 4 feet or so. Since gettign abck on after my crash I have only backed it in a few times, no kneedowns or spinning up, since spinnign up helped me to highside.

the sv will do it when its damp, first time i did it i s#it myself but after that i was doing it for fun, and i was in a straight line not on a corner.

Stay upright in the snow.

Maybe Im just missing the testosterone required to think tricks on bikes are cool. But then its the reason I wont go to the ace - too many testosterone fuelled [or drink allegedly in the case of the bimbo on the R1] idiots that crash.

I really really fail to see the point of them tbh.

wheelies = fun (when you want to)
stoppie - too scared!
burnout - always a classic bit of fun (shame about the tyre)
knee down - i need to learn the technique

whats a 'backing it in'??

Examples of tricks are:-

Wheelie - never really been intersted not sure why, wasn't that intrested in wheeling or jumping a crosser either - i'm probaly a pussy but hey
Standup wheelie - hell no
Burnout - only with old tyres but makes good photos
Stopie - again don't really like the feeling and its awfull for the head bearings isn't it?
Kneedown - great fun in the right place
‘Backing it in’ - not sure but getting the back sliding a bit in the wet is fun
Leaving a ‘darkie’ (skid) - waste of rubber
Leaving a ‘darkie’ (spinning up) - has the sv got enough grunt to do this properly, i certainly havn't got enough skill

The best fun i've had on the sv was at a snetterton beating the 1000's down through the last few corner before the straight - ok i was in the begginers group but beating people with 50% more power than you is so much fun. Then the instuctors came past and deflated my ego .

Backing it in is just stamping down the gears and havign the rear spin slower than the bike is going, makes it fishtail and stuff.

I agree, kneedowning is as far as I would go anywhere I think. Wheelies = no, I like the main thing that stops me to be on the ground. Stoppies = meh, not fussed, any monkey can grab the front brake too hard, same for burnouts. Plus, what if you bin it? Or stack it into someone for being a ****. For me, the thing I would most hate is for a pedestrian to get hurt because I was doing something stupid.[/quote]

Er there is a big difference between getting the back a bit squirmy (which is possible) and spinning it up leaving a thick smoke cloud on the exit of a 100+?? mph corner WSB/MotoGP style!! That is what I whish I could do But alas, that also needs what 200+hp, slick tyres and perfectly set up suspension … oh … and ‘rocks’ the size of planets!! … none of which I have at my disposal!!

lynw - now that isn't the spirit now is it?!!?!?

XVS2005 - ‘backing it in’ is when you approach a corner with the back end hanging out/sliding … ‘oversteer’??? this not only allows you a different line round the corner… but looks cool!!

Backing it in is when you are braking hard into a bend and the rear tyre steps out so as to aid turning. Then you get your knee down just before you crash.

And you will crash if you ride like that on the road.On the track you can practice the same trick on the same bit of tarmac again and again in controlled cicumstances, but on the road everything is a bit different each time you try.EG the corner at the top of my road is currently awash with diesel, and if I came round it anywhere near the limit I'd be on my ****.

It's not oversteer mate, it's just snapping the cluthc out on down changes lol. Hardly skilled with so much engine braking available!
