Hi All,
Recently bought my SV after passing my direct access - 1st bike an all that so need a bit of advice....... I'm after a tankbag that will fit nicely on my SV - don't want anything too big, but I want something that will take enough bits and bobs for when I go touring in July. Was thinking of the Oxford Sports Compact tankbag - I think these are 26l - anyone got one or can recomend something else. One thing I'm conscious of is the way the SV tank is scalloped in on the top - my mates tank bag didn't seem to fit very well over this - the magnets end up not making contact properly with the tank - anyone else had this issue? Or is my mates tankbag just crap! Cheers |

I have an Oxford magnetic bag and it is an Oxford 1 inside it says OF411 and its ok on my K5SV.
It did seem to fit a little better on the old curvy bike though. I havent had a problem and I never use the headstock strap |

I bought a cheapo (£16.00) if I remember right, jobby from Aldi.
-- lots of Aldi threads on here -- Three zip togther sections so pick your size. I think its better/safer to lift the tank and put the head stock strap under it, rather than round the head stock. Went in to my local Aldi on Friday, they still had some. TBH I actually use the middle section under a cargo net on my back seat more than I use rest. |

I also have an oxford sports compact bag it seems to have much stronger magnets and comes with a strap which you can put around under the tank if you need it really secure. Any thing bigger/longer than these two i found that they overhang the tank at the seat end and as you lean on the tank at speed you push the bag forward into the yoke and it can interfer with the steering. I'll put a vote in for the Oxford Sports, much more secure than the Oxford First (magnets came unstuck at 100+ mph

If you're looking for a cheepy tank bag, HG are selling the 411 (magnetic) and 410 (strap) oxford bags for £10 instead of £34.99 provided you can give an email address (well thats what it is at Purley anyway) they also have the tail bags for £14.
They are the oxford 1st time luggage (the ones with the 1 on the sides ![]() Sammy |
