Default Made my stomach churn

I really felt ill this morning while going round the M25 with the family in the car toward the A21. Just after J2 we saw the kent air ambulance circling above and as we approached the junction I saw an R1 on its side...3 other bikes parked up nearby and 2 ambulance crews trying to rescusitate(?) what looked like it could have been the R1 rider...

What made my stomach churn was not the sight of the bike on its side but the paramedics trying to rescus someone in the middle of the carriageway...I would hate to have to stand there and watch while a friend is dying...

Am I just squeamish? I dont' know?

No.

Your not squeamish.

In 2004 i witnessed just that. Stood there and watched a friend die.

Not a pretty sight i can tell you.. still have flash backs about it now.

RIP Colin

Also witness some unknown biker being resussed, who also died outside squires in 2004 too. Same feelings as you witnessed.

Having been that paramedic, in that same situation on a number of occasions.

I can tell you there's nothing worse than turning up on scene and finding you need to resus someone and no one has done anything

no matter how many drugs/shocks or how long you keep up CPR if no one starts anything before you arrive you are fighting a loosing battle, even if you get the heart going again oxygen depravation will mean you've a good chance of them being a vegetable.

get some basic trainning, it could be a mate or loved one you're watching

Cheers Mark.

Too right Rictus, got any links you can put up for people to find out more info on this?

Its never nice this kind of thing, when I was in Portsmouth on the way home from Uni the traffic was backed up so I filtered, overtook an ambulance at one point and thought nothing of it as it was moving very slowly but no flashing lights. Kept filtering and saw a car stopped and people standing around and figured a shunt but then a infront of the car a bike was on its side with a biker face down. It later dawned on me the fact the ambulance wasnt lights blinking and sirens going off was because he was probably dead I believe it was a head on crash though not to sure

1st Aid Training could (should) be compulsory as part of the driving test.
