Default SV Gixer shock

I've seen several posts about putting in Gixer 1000 shocks to replace the standard SV one.

I have a 2000 curvy model, SV650s and am finding the suspension too soft, I weigh around 15.5 stone and am a heavy build, most of it's muscle .

What year Gixer do I need to get a shock off of to replace mine and what springs would compliment the shock at the front? - does this work really make a major difference to the suspension?.

I'm not interested in spending a fortune on conversions, aiming to just replace springs at front (already had heavy weight oil put in) and the rear shock, cheaply

Not sure on curvey models, I think there is a Kawasaki shock that is a better fit for your model rather than a GSXR one.

Do a search, I'm sure you'll find the details.

Read through this

Contains info on pretty much every conceivable combo of shock for fat rider + curvy, thin + pointy etc.

I've got a ZX6RR shock, excellent shock

but you need to kut the plastic and move the battery!

they are also harder to find than the GSXR ones...

could have changed in a half year don't know. I bought mine in America and paid if I remember well 67$ (=33 pound?) incuding shipment...

I hear the ZX10 shock is good for Curvey's too, like THIS ONE

Supposed to have a harder spring rate than the ZX6 shock.

I have recently installed a ZX10r rear shock to my 2001 curvey, bought off e-bay and has made a big difference coupled with the stronger front springs and w15 oil.

Check this out.

ill agree with jayjay on this one...good improvement.
