Default Looking at buying a sv650

Hi am looking at buying a sv650 new, would fitting a new exhaust slip on void the warranty? also is the 33bhp restrictor kit washers or like a chip (2005 model). Is there anything that i should look out for on the bike? going to be using it for a 80 mile trip every week and also commuting to work

Some suffer from water (road spray) affecting the front spark plug, so fit a 'fender extender' - should be less than £20
Check the oil level every day in the sight window
Fit some crash bungs - R&Gs are OK

cheers

The SV gets praise for its restrictor, as it only really limits the top speed. Not that I have ridden a restricted one, but by all accounts acceleration is still good.

It's a chip type. You pull out a black box and put a different one in. Swapping back is the reverse.

If you've not ridden one before, check for comfort. 80 miles a week isn't that much, but some people find the seat hard to get on with.

Buying a nearly new one, look for ones that have new tyres, as the stock ones are not great. The finish can be a bit dodgy, but otherwise it's a great bike. Standard second hand bike buying tips apply. If in doubt, walk away.
