Default Sanding down light

Hi,

It appears my sv650 (year 2000) has been imported from France. Last time I took it in for a service, it scrapped though with a bit of tape on the front light - as the beam pointed the wrong way.

Looking at the light, the glass is symmetrical, it's just the reflector that's making the beam point the wrong way. Has anyone tried sanding down the offending bit of reflector?

the SV headlight unit, although looking like it just clips together is actually glued and very difficult to get apart, if how evr you want to go that way, see if you can get the righthand reflector from a busted set of uk spec lights and just replace your current one, that way you retail the projector (on the left) for main beam and get the Dip to dip to the left.

Cheers Mark.

What way does the projector point? Off to the right, or straight ahead?

Projector is just main beam, so straight ahead.

Holy cow, here we go again!

My SV is an Euro spec, projector + plain headlight, and the projector is the dipped beam (left one, from riders POV). The "normal" headlight is just used for main.
I've checked this with r4ce e3nd, his bike is Euro spec too, and it's the same as mine. So what gives?
By logic, I'd also say the projector should be the main beam, but it looks like it isn't so!

Indeed the projector is on the left, as mine was an itailian import and changed out the lights straight away, got it somewhere in the shed, I'll have to have a look?

I do remember both lights were single element bulbs, so why have the projector as dipped?

Cheers Mark.

I wish I knew that! The lights in my SV are utter crap, and I can't stop thinking that's the problem... Could you try and shed some light in this please?
