Default Broken download picking-up thing

I used to have a Thing... Some sort of PC doohicky- which when my erratic wireless connection randomly dropped, would preserve things I was in the middle of downloading, so that when I went back to the download, the work already done would be preserved.

I mention this, because I've "upgraded" to XP, and I've just had a big patch get cut off at 95% or thereabouts twice in the last hour, and it's extremely irritating. Is there a reliable program I can download for this? I'd sort of assumed that some of my ridiculous bloatware would take care of that for me...

If you use opera as your browser it does this anyway. sounds like you dont.
either get opera or i think adobe reader comes free with a download manager thing you might find useful.

Quite right, I use Explorer, as I'm a computing disaster.

That is a very good way to obtain malware

I've cunningly wired my wireless connection, thus removing most of the problem... But still after a manager anywyay. Getright?
