I searched the site for "riding in rain" as i couldn't think of anything else at the moment.
Im going on a holliday tomorrow (yay \o/) and it looks like rain. I have never had any problems with my sv before, but if it starts acting up in the rain (i take it it's the mad sparkplug in front that is the issue) is there anything you can do about this? Do i just stop and wait till it dries or is there anything you can do about this? Someone once wrote something about wd-40 but i don't remember where on this site that was. Regards Jonas |

You should be fine. Heavy rain and spray causes problems.
Keep you braking distance to avoid spray. If it does play up, WD40 sprayed at the plug will drive out any water and the heat of the engine should get rid of the rest. Dont forget you waterproofs and pref. a spare pair of gloves. |

What sort of mileage are we talkiong about here as i ride in from Cambridge to london in the rain and never had a problem with my sv? If your worried about it you might wanna consider getting a fender extender for the front maybe.
As a tip you can nornally see "dryer" patches in the road where car wheels have dissipated the rain from the road so i normal ride on these for A cos if i break hard it will provide more grip than elsewhere in the lanes and B you dont get so much spray in to the engine area. My tuppence worth but....and btw take it easy ![]() |

The best thing to do is to stop the water getting in there in the first place.
A fenda extenda as Viney says cured my wet front plug problems. Northwind swears by some non conductive silicone grease. Once the wet has got in there then you'll need to get it out. The thing to do is to unbolt the rad and then remove the front plug lead. Dry it out and then put it back on again. Make sure the drain hole on the right hand side of the front cylinder is clear if it gets blocked theres nowhere for the water to go if it does get in there and it drowns the front plug.
