Ther is a sort of alternative, which is to slot the holes in the pick-up bracket. This is what I did.

The amount it will move is limited by the casting bosses (unless you want to start grinding the cover away!), and I measured the effect with a timing light and it gives exactly 2deg, half that you get with the stepped key.

You can certainly feel the effect when pulling away from standstill, much snappier.

Just an option, and no need to disturb the rotor.

The slot approach terrified me though

I've got a rotor puller which is on a permanent lend-out to forum members. I think Burner still has it, not too sure.

May seem like a silly question, but if you advance the ignition using this key, do you need any other mods, or can it be done to a standard engine, (just trying to sort out the best way to spend my pennies first)

Sorry for jumping the thread, but it is relevant.

Can be done to stock motor, with stock filter and exhaust, no problems.

After all the hassling to get it off Jonboy too! For shame!

Weegaz's been sort of on the list since the start, so he's definately due it next... Bobbydee, you're welcome to it after.
