As Ebike Insurance is getting very popular and having just done an online quote with Ebike I got confused as to what the total excess on the policy was going to be............ I spoke with Ebike C.S. today and they explained how their online software works:
One completing your online quote the Ebike software automatically defaults you having a voluntary excess of £200, this is in addition to their standard (I believe) excess of £250. Unless you want a total excess of £450 please make sure you set the voluntary excess to £0 |

Yep, but all you do to check is click the 'View Excesses' next to the vol excess and it will tell you the total excess, theft excess not in garage.
Compulsary excess varies on diffrent bikes, but the info in the 'View Excesses' gives the correct totals. BTW. it seems that Ebike have been hiking up their costs. I am currently paying 71 a month, but if i was to renew the policy now it would be over 100 per month. Annoying as my renewal is in aug/sept.

Their prices vary through the month just like other companies.
I've had quotes a few times for stuff like zzr1100s and falcos etc. The zzr comes out at either about £4 per month more than other similar (ish) bikes or for the stupid, we don't want your business, prices. similarly, stuff like the falco comes out either about £60 per month or £90 per month. Same circumstances for all. Also, it appears that turning 25 will have a huge effect on my premiums, contrary to what various people have claimed (it was often claimed that for bikes they came down at 30 instead) |

Worried by comments on price changes I have just ran a quote on my current circumstances , ie bike ncb, security, mods and it came out the same as when I renewed last year.
So out of interest I added an extra years noclaims and got it down from £130 to £124 per annum comprehensive. So I guess when I finally get my 5 yrs it will still be over a hundred for the year

I got my eBike policy details through yesterday.
After putting £0 voluntary excess my policy states.... £175 for own damage, fire & theft. £250 garaging excess (if stolen between 10pm and 6am, in the vicinity of your home) It's worth trying their different excess options. I checked it for all variations. Even with £500 voluntary excess I would only have saved £16 on the years premium. Stuff that! ![]() |

Insurance just baffles me totally.
Got a quote for a GSXR750 today. I'm 28 and have been riding 2 years with one claim (theft) against me. No ncb as I never keep a bike long enough! They wanted £1'900 fully comp! But then I got a quote for a Z1000, £402 TPFT and £331 fully comp. It was £70 cheaper to go fully comp. WTF. I'm paying over £600 notes for he SV! |

Ebike's premium are way out of sync atm.
Mate of mine in work just passed his test and I sent him to Ebike for a quote, we sat at my PC. Half joking he wanted a quote on a ..... Brand new Triumph 675 = £6200 Brand New SV650s = £1300 One year old Honda 125 = £1700 Like wtf? The Homda is his atm and he pays £600 per year ish. We both work in insurance so we know what we are doing but that made no sense what so ever. PS The Triumph was worth £7000 new, we concluded that was not a viable option for him ![]() |
