OK after my accident last year I put some winky dinks on my bike .. little mini bulbed indictors went for MOT and failed cos they blink too fast. They're 12V23W bulbs and the relay as most of you will know is for 21W bulbs. So does anyone know where I can get a new relay to suit these bulbs or could someone suggest a place to order 21W bulbs to fit mini indicators from as my local garages dont have any.
Thanks. |

A lot of these aftermarket indicators warn that blink rate may speed up - and then try to sell you a device to slow it to a normal speed. I've not got them myself but try the motrax website. Saying that i did see them in Halfords the otherday when I was looking at bike oil.

DO NOT BUY A MOTRAX ONE They charge you £19.99 for a £4.99 part. Walk around halfrauds and look for the bulbs, there will be flasher relays there for £4.99, Just get the one with the right amount of connections and correct wattage. We changed my mates yesterday as we'd put mini's on his NSR125

the realy is the part you need. i also need one but havnt got round to doing it. the only thing is halfords do honda, kawasaki and yamaha ones...i think we need the universal ones for suzuki's, but the indicator really is als used for something else, can remember off hand...but if you look in the haynes manual it will tell you. ill give a couple a try soon...see if any of the other bike replacement relays work.

think its used for the side stand cut out !! I know the relay is a multi purpose on eon the sv- so you cant just change it- just bypass it

The Relay on the sv is used for the indicators and according to the wiring diagram the side stand ![]() Halfrauds do 2 and 3 pin relays so i'd take the one off the bike and match it up. Not sure what the standard is for the SV relay but on his NSR it was only a 4 x 5W one. |

LED's use very little power. You can get relays that let you set the flash rate by a dial on the relay, can't remember where I seen them though...
As metioned though I think the flasher relay is multipurpose, so a straight swap might not be an option, not seen the circuit so can't be sure. You can always slap in some resistors with your LED indicators. http://forums.sv650.org/viewtopic.ph...&highlight=led Scroll down for the exlanation. |
