Default exhaust coating

OK guys, a question anyone use had their exhaust ceramic coated ?

just won some headers, so have a spare set to play with, thinking of doing this and was wondering what sort of temp they get to as the finishes are rated at 1000' /800'/ 650' & 600'.

I'd really love to go brightly coloured, but this is the lowest temp finish.

I'll phone them as soon as I get the pipes through and find out, but was wondering if anyone had done it yet.

Cheers Mark.

Ceramakote? I've not used them, as yet, but I was quite impressed with their responses to my questions. No claims of invulnerability, for example, which I found encouraging. Think I will, but not just yet.

was looking at http://www.camcoat.u-net.com/index.htm , they also don't offer warrenty on anything but new pipework, but will clean your for 10% of total cost.

It's about £150 or so, not a cheap option but the attraction of leary pipework is something I've not surcome to before.

Probably call them next week some ime and have a chat about it and get a fixed price.

Cheers Mark.

I used CamCoat about 8-9 years ago to get the exhaust coated on my GSX600F. I have to say I was singularly unimpressed. The coating started to come off after a couple of months. They sent me a tin of the coating through to brush on over the top but I reckon I'd have been better off with Halfords High Temp stuff! I got the distinct impression that they weren't bothered about my business in my dealings with them.

From their point of view they would say that as they coated 'old' pipes (which they cleaned and left full of sand) they can't guarantee the finish. From my point of view, if it was going to be that bad they should have told me and I'd have kept my money.

Of course it might have improved since then. However, bear in mind that the downpipe is very exposed and liable to get a pelting from road gravel. Any little chip, in any type of coating, will start to let corrosion in and then it's as much use as a chocolate teapot.

Just my 2p!

P.

Pity.
I am getting mine at least partly coated by a US company soonish I hope. Forget the name.

So, I will let people know if it worked out well, and if they are interested I can post stuff back to the UK if they wont post directly to you. :P
