Default Would you...

..nod at someone who was riding like an idiot?

-I have respect for all year riders like myself as i understand what we go through.
-I have respect for riders with many years experience.
-I have respect for riders who ride well and within their limits
-I dont have respect for riders who only get their bikes out during the few sunny spells and ride like idiots endangering themselves and others.

I have even less if they're carrying a pillion wearing jeans and riding like only a single rider would do when they were in the "zone" and just boardering on their limits. Such as the one i saw this morning. He was obviously doing it to show off to his mate on the back. He continued riding like a complete idiot doing overtakes with oncoming traffic that i would only consider on my own if i was in a hurry and not on my normal easy ride to work.

So what would you do when you pull up to the lights next to them? Nod or not?

On this occasion, after keeping up with them for a while, i completely blanked them.

Depends what mood i'm in to be honest.

I'll nod at bikes going the other direction
I'll nod at learner if they nod first and aren't riding like a ****
I'll nod at bikes going the same direction if i pull up beside them at lights/junc
I normally give people a flash or hand as i go by them if i'm following and go by (some people take this as a race invite though so i kinda tend not to do it anymore)

The only people i won't nod at are those riding in little or no protection ( bar helmet) to whom i shake my head But if they want to look like raw beefburger then thats their choice, i like my skin thanks.

Was he overtaking on bends or just straightlining with oncoming traffic ?? I do the latter to a degree if there's room.

No offence intended but if he was riding like a complete idiot and you kept up then it kinda means you were riding like said idiot for a period (that is not having a go BTW)

I am assuming the danger was in the two up as opposed to him riding for himself.

Personally I wouldn't have been rude, I would have ackowledged him. Nothing gained by acting superior, it isn't going to save his skin or teach him a lesson.

I wouldn't. I don't nod at people riding like idiots or people who are just wearing a t-shirt or something. Or the chavs on their scooters. Apart from that, I'll pretty much nod at most bikers
