Default Suspension upgrade

Hi All,

I'm looking to upgrade my front suspension to get rid of the soggy dive that it does whenever you even look at the brakes.

What is the recommended springs and oil weight these days? And where should I purchase said springs?

I'm a little over 11 stone if that makes a difference.

ps Hi to everyone, been a busy year but I'm back now, or at least I will be once I get the bike back together.

I used Hagons and 10W oil a massive improvment.

Then went the whole hog and did the GSXR front end which IMO makes a epic diffrence to my SV.

I did a search.

So did I but couldn't find any consensus. After a more in depth read of practically every thread on suspension in the forum I've come to the conclusion that this is because there isn't one.

I'm currently thinking, Ohlins as I prefer the idea of single rate and 10W oil, and perhaps some preload adjusters.

I think I also need to back off the preload on my rear suspension as I think it's too high. Amazing what you can learn in a couple of hours digging through forum archives although I never had the time for it at work earlier.

I had Hyperpro progressive springs fitted at JHS yesterday and the bike is better than new. It hardly dives under braking anymore & you get a really good feel from the front.

You could give 'em a call, though I think the kits are in short supply, or there's probably other suppliers.

Matt

I just fitted some springs by Ohlins and put fresh lighter weight oil (10wt) in

the difference is amazing....

No dive under braking and I'm sure the oil change keeps the wheel on the ground better over small bumps(previous oil weight was 15wt)

there are other springs out there too...........

I bought them from Demon tweaks

The general consensus that I'm getting is that all non standard springs make a massive difference but most people have only ever tried one so there is no exact comparison between them.

That is true It's the same with the GSXR shocks- everyone says they're better, very few people can really say how much better.

The Ohlins shock was approx 87.4% better than the standard when I upgraded. Front forks were 72% better than standard - Ohlins springs and 12.5W oil - they guy mixed it up to get the right weight!
