Hay fever

Never had it before but my eyes and nose have been streaming since about 11:00am Somebody recommend a good cure ------PLEASE------now my throat and neck are sore with the constant sneezing and my head hurts

Mac, try Bekonase, its available over the counter, kinda milky fluid that you spray up nostrils morning and night

the prescription version is a wee bit better since the spray is much finer and "atomizes"

anyway, I suffered very badly and took a bout 2 years to find this stuff, had tried just about everything and someone recommended me this stuff, it cured me overnight

mac, i never suffered with hay fever, till last year.
not sure why i started suffering, but this year is terrible, i would say piriton works, but it makes you so drowsy, that you will just want to sleep,

and when you do, nothing wakes you up.

Benedryl + is a new one for me this week. Piriton doesn't work, neither does Clarityn, and neither does Boots Own. It's got a decongestant in it too, which is great. So far, no problems (touch wood). Was also recommended Beconase, but thought I'd try one last tablet rather than squirt stuff up my nose!!!

I hate Beconase, it works but I find it horrible to use. Clarityn's always worked fine for me, as do all the other products that are absolutely identical but cheaper

I've never had it before but seem to be getting some kind of hayfever this year. So how does that work, is hayfever something you develop as you get older, or is there some new chemical (or lack of chemical) being used on fields now, something new in the foodsystem, or maybe a weird side effect of giving up smoking?

I don't understand it, and if I took some medicine that would be an admission that I've got hay fever, couldn't have that!

Benadryl one a day is the only thing that works for me now, and its not 100%

I'm totally resistant to all the other over the counter stuff after years of taking it, this will be my 18th year of hayfever, Really hate it, I can't enjoy the summer unless I leave the country

I have suffered for the last few years, it started in my late 20's but has got worse to the point i need nose spray, tablets and eye drops now in the summer
I think its a bit like cold sores in that its in your body and can come and go over the years due to outside factor (stress, rundown or just where you live and things you come into contact with)

Funnily enough if you believe in global warming and pollution levels then it may be no coincidence that the number of hayfever and asthma sufferers has quadrupled in the last 20yrs

I use Morrisons own 1 a day tablet, which contain citerizine, the same as prescribed by my doctor but only cost £1.50 a box.


A further problem i have had is i sometimes sneeze so violently that it makes my nose bleed, i have had both nostrils cauterised twice in the last 10 years.

I had that done, for the same reason. Painful and uncomfortable, but so far it has worked. Nasonex spray has helped a lot too.
