anyone else melted their boot heel on the link pipe of a ccc hi-level link pipe? is there meant to be a heel-plate?

You're meant to not put your foot on teh hot bit, really... Very common with high-levels. If you can't get used to the riding position, Banditmania do a simple heel shield that you can strap on for about £20, I've got one and it does the job.

hmm .. I rather suspected as much

<rant>

I'm getting rather tired of bike stuff that is clearly not designed properly - the "oh yeh, they do that" kind of mentality that produces kit has intrinsic flaws such as this

& then we stump up further £££ to rectify the problem ourselves rather than hold the manufacturers to task

</rant>

I'll be speaking to CCC as I am not prepared to accept this, on top of allt he other grief I had fitting the damn thing in the first place

It's just an inevitable part of having the pipe raised that way... Very common with high-levels. You can see just by looking at it that it's close to where your foot will be... And very few exhausts do carry a heat shield. Most people just deal with it to be honest.

Phone them tell them what happened! send it back, and they'll fit a heat shield on the melted patch!! Yes mine did it, and that was what they did for free!!
