brake disc with aluminium rotors - SV650.org

just bought a set of brake disc of ebay and the middle section not the friction part is made out of a soft metal im guessing its aluminium is this ok ive never seen disc made like this before

seems ok i think the bandit discs have an aluminium mid section

Braking Point? They're OK... Some reports of them warping esaily though, don't run them with aggressive compound pads I think. I'm pretty happy with mine, they were a little grabby until run in though.

But put it this way, they cost more or less 1/3 as much as Braking wavys, so it's a gamble I was happy with.

how did you connect the speedo sensor magnets to the disc or did you put it on the rear i cant get them in any position to fit at equil distance apart im now thinking of extending the speedo sensor to the rear sprocket what pads or you running with them??

You dont need them at equal distances apart, as long as there is 4 magnets for 1 rotation of the wheel then it will register a speed. I may be jerky on the needle at constant speeds though as i found out. Otherwise you could take the magnets out of the holders and chem metal them to the rotor.

I don't, yet

It's irritating that the sensors don't fit in the disc retainers... Not sure what I'll do with them. I'm using Armstrong HH, apparently teh choice of the enduro racer as they don't eat discs. Seem to work- I'd have used OEM but they're not cheap.

billy do a serch on ebay for gsxr disc i think he has 8 sets left.
was thinking about filing the retaners down to fit the disc bottons but there is 9 of them so the sensor magnets wont be spaced equily. i think that its got to be a rear wheel job or some sort of bracket on the disc to hold them my bikes in for repares at the moment so if you find a way be sure to share it

Well, couple of thoughts. Obviously, rear wheel is quite feasible, but the pickup's quite bulky. I've got a smaller pickup fro a Veypor that I'm going to have a crack with, see how that works out- I'd like to run both the standard clocks and the vaypor off one pickup.

There's bound to be other places on teh wheel, just not put any thought into that yet.
