Switching from car to bike - SV650.org

Evening all.

Ok another dilema for me. I have owned a nice little Ford Fiesta for 16 months, on HP with a final payment due at the end of the term. Basically its costling too much, £1500 insurance, £100 a month on petrol. I want to switch back to 2 wheels because I know i'll save money etc etc ...... and have more fun

Anyway I have read over my agreement with ford and it states that if I terminate the contract with them I owe them the final payment plus handing the car back. This final payment is £2580.

Now I have worked out that if I add everything I owe them, plus final payment, it amounts to £6600. If I sold the car privately I'll probably only get around £5500 at most.

Now i'm stuck.

Has anyone else here been in such a position?

Me thinks i'm buggered....

Err, bikes can cost more when you count all the extras in.

Jesus, I've got a Ford Fiesta (its the wife's) and only pay £320 fully comp but I do have full no claims bonus. £1500 how old are you or is that just Belfast rates

Insurance is only slightly more expensive on my 2003 Polo 1.2 than my 2005 SV and I do more miles in the car. Mpg is only slightly more in the car as well I guess.

A small 125 that does 100mpg will be cheaper but you wouldn't like to ride far away on it.

I have a 125 scooter that I've had for 2 years. I suppose I cant have everything.

As for the insurance rates it is a Northern Ireland thing. Claims rate is still through the roof so that will contribute.

Maybe i've put SV stickers on my scoot....
