Default Seat Cowl Connundrum!

Hi Guys n Gals,

I bought a seat cowl off ebay the other day and it got ere today so thought Id get out in't garage and see how it looks. The ad said it came off a 2000 reg sv,but it doesnt quite look right, the colours not a bad match (i think but I am colur blind!!) but theres a big ole gap where it meets the rear panels. Is there anythin I'm missing?? Do I have to file/sand/grind the inside (legs) down or something cos Im not sure? Have a look at the photos and you'll see what I mean.

Oh BTW mines a 99 sv so didnt think there was any/much variance between 99 and 2000 (am I think or wot!?).

Oops - pressed submit instead of preview!! - heres another couple! And its fully pressed in with the lock on it and everythin.

Is there anythin I can do to get it to fit better?? Has anyone else had the same problem - surely someone has??

Yep mines the same a **** fitt!!!!!!!!!
You could try a rubber trim or the screen trim that you get from halfords!!!!
I don't bother with mine coz I think it looks crap so it's stuck in the shed collecting dust!!!

If you are not happy with it, there's a lad at work after a seat cowl for a yellow curvy.
BTW How are you enjoying the SV?? Is the throttle still made for Mr Universe ???

Hi Billy!!

Not managed to put the undertray on yet, Im waiting till I get a full weekend so I dont get caught out as its my commuting horse as well!! With regards to the seat cowl it doesnt look too pretty, which is a shame cos the colour match is good I just thought maybe a rubber seal or screen trim might tidy it up but I think the only thing that I wont be able to get around is the bit where the grab rail was, the gap is large and angled so dont know about that, it could well end up being another garage ornament!! But I'm gonna get some screen trim this weekend and see how it looks - cant hurt to try - if it goes ok ill post some pics so you can have a look to see if yours would work with it(billy).

Tonyw.... yeah I'm loving my SV, and YES the throttle is very tight/firm, there is freeplay on it but just seems a bit stiff - might get some oil down it and see if that helps!!

Take it eazy

Phil. Out

seat cowl conundrum, ermm
steal cow?? (In a countdown stylie), is that what you mean??

I have the same problem with mine. I think the inside of the cowl sits on the lip of the bodywork underneath. It looks like a pyramid cowl you have there?

I had to put washers on the locking mechanism part otherwise it wouldn't fit properly, the mechanism was too high, basically..

Doesn't look as bad as yours, unfortunately, but not far from. I don't think there's a great deal you can do unless you start chopping the lip down, which I doubt you'll want to do....

Mines a perfect fit but then its not a skidmarx or pyramid one, think its either a demon tweaks or busters one, only complaint is i need saddle shutters to fill the grab rail gaps. (getting them from bandit mania).
