Hello,
Whilst riding home this lunch my bike started behaving strange, the speedo and rev counter started jumping up and down, then my fuel light flashed on then off, then came on warning me I'm low (I'm not) then when I indicated it flashed too quickly. Got to my house sat there and the needles on the speedo and rev counter were jumping about, dash lights flashing on and off etc and before I got to my house the engine would't fire properly. Anyone know what this is, it is as though something is shorting out but what would make all the dash dials go mad and the engine misfire....only a short trip, about 10mins from work. I did install a ZX10R shock yesterday and with the usual battery problems I have spaced mine back but it is touching the shock reservoir and I've noticed now it's pushed in against the battery case, but not breached it. If the battery was dying the engine should still fire though?, could I have damaged the battery and lowered the voltage going through my electrics causing it?. Any help greatly received. ![]() |

Check all the wiring you have disturbed for loose connections or shorts, could be anything.
If the battery case isn't breached then it won't be that, but make sure that it's not chafing on anything that'll eventually wear through it, not only will the battery be buggered but your bike won't thank for the bath in battery acid.

Get it exorcised first
![]() I had some of those symptoms just from a loose battery terminal, seems that the gauges etc are sensitive to that sort of thing.

if its effected the voltage by damage this can cause problems with engine management / cdi etc.
