Default Clutch Noise

My 01' with 12K miles has started to sound like a dry clutch Ducati on de-acceleration. Any idea if my clutch has had it? Still works well...

Adjust it first, as usual, if no improvement then a look under the cover may be warranted.

12,000 isn't much for the standard clutch, you can expect much more than that, so whilst possible the clutch is worn I'd look elsewhere first.

Default Are you sure?

The clutch is generally dead silent unless you are running way to low on oil. I would check the chain tension and the condition of the chain slider on top of the swingarm. Then I would measure the links per the owner's manual to see if the chain has too much stretch for service.

Default clutch noise II

I said de-acceleration what I mean to say is, during the return to idle from a brisk free rev. Clutch in or out no matter. Momentary clatter (Ducati like) on the way down. Speaking of which. Have you seen the new Cycle World? V-Storm v. Ducati Multistrada 620. Interesting?

The clutch basket has a cushion drive built in with 4 springs. These springs collapse a bit over time and could definitely be the noise your hearing.
