Hi,
This should hopefully be an easy question but.. I've been reassembling the bike after fitting the rear shock and having a little trouble with the linkage. Wish I'd taken pics now but I'll try to describe my problem. The problem piece is the triangular bit with the 3 bearings, one end attaches to the shock, the bottom bit to the dog bones and the other to the frame. Between the two ends, the frame and shock, it's vaguely symettrical except one is slightly thinner. I'm not sure which way round this originally was as it wasn't me that took it apart. If you've got this far and know exactly what I'm talking about then you'll know there are 2 washers that are supposed to slot in beside the bearing spacer on the bit that joins to the frame. And now we come to the problem. The washers don't physically fit in. As I said I'm not sure which way it was when it came out but the thinner end has to go into the shock as the fatter end doesn't fit, which leaves the fatter end to go into the frame which fits perfectly, just doesn't leave enough space for the washers. At this point I suspected that perhaps it was the other way around with the old shock but it would take a significant amount of effort, if it's even possible to get the fat end into the old shock, so I'm stumped. Do I proceed without the washers? or am I doing something wrong? |

Nothing planned.
I even took the bearing spacer out and it wouldn't go in with even 1 of the washers, never mind 2. |

Right then... Usual time? Slightly later than I plan to get there?

Northy has been a busy bee and not able to make it over.
Anyone got any ideas? And what are the implications of not putting the washers in? |

Curvy or pointy? (they might be the same, but only played with and downloaded the curvy manual).
Download the 'chassis' manual, there are some pics in there that should explain things. http://www.sv650.org/sv_manuals.htm I don't see any washers on the curvy ... |
