Am I missing something?
Been reading up on cornering techniques and everywhere I read (except roadsense) they mention a turn in point. Its the same advice in mags web etc - look for your turn in point - pick a landmark such as a tree, drain or someth similar landmark and use this as your turn in. Now - if you are supposed to look through the corner all the time then why on earth would I want to "fixate" on something and take my eye off where I want to go? ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Do the Californian Superbike School and they will explain.
Basically, you pick your turn in point, turn on it and then look into and around the corner and into the next. It's the same as your braking point really. I wouldn't worry about it too much on the road to be honest. |

Ah, when's the Knockhill course? They did it in the past but then stopped, it'd be great if they pick it up again...

I think the 'turn in point' is only a term used on track when you are doing the same corners repetitively and are trying to be consitent or speed up by changing this.
For advanced road riding you use the term 'vanishing point', which is looking as far ahead as possible to where the road disappears. |

You can still have a turn in point on the road, in fact you have to as this is the point where you push on the inside of the bar to make the bike dip and go around the bend (I take it the board has had the 'counter steer' row?). My point was that there is no specific area on the road where you turn in as every bend and corner is different. |
