Default Anyone know about paint (domestic)

Why does white paint, say on skirtings, which is, say, concealed behind furniture or inside a cupboard yellow more than that which is exposed to light?

This is a mystery I've always wondered about.

Ah come on be fair, we have had to suffer a thread about vacuum cleaners and Jelster's new Focus recently. This in comparison is far meatier a subject! :P :P :P

But fascinating, none the less! So by Jabba's explanation all the paint would be yellow had it not been for light. I'm unconvinced.
