Letter for work has just come through the door.
Dear Tim, PAY REVIEW 2006 I am pleased blah blah blah Thank you for you continued support blah blah blah So my pay has gone up by 3%. but over the past 4 years it has only increased by 8% and I now earn less than I did 5 years ago when I used to get bonus's. and we had a pay freeze for 15 months as money was tight etc. Problem is I have worked for the same company for 22 years and they know I won't walk out and find a new job as I would be turning my back on a potential redundancy package and need to look after my pension etc. So do I continue to skive and surf t'internet or buckle down and earn a decent pay rise next year, which will never materialise as I won't re-locate to the back of beyond known as rugby B'stards

I'm in a similar situation.
Two 2.5% pay rises in 5 years. (total of 3 pay rises in seven years) Tried buckling down and working my **** off, no difference. So I'm going with the skiving and surfing route, **** 'em ![]() |

![]() ![]() guess I've been lucky then. I always had the inflation rate pay increase every year. |

Jabba is quite correct.
Well my employers no longer have an automatic cost of living award. You get what they can get away with. Only way to get a decent salary is to resign. You only get away with it once and occasionally they will call you bluff.

Surely after 22 years your pension would be safe and you could move it with you or freeze it. I'd change jobs - sod the redundancy - quality of life is more important. My boss is away for the summer period and I've just been poncing around the office and while-ing away the hours - all a bit boring. I'd move on if I were you and enjoy being appreciated and having a satisfying job again.
Or am I being idealistic? |
