Default Fitting taller bars to SV650k2

Wierd request as everyone in here seems to want to lower everything on the Sv, but I am a greyhaired old man and I need my comfort. I need to raise the bars on my 2002 model k2 (unfaired model) by a copule of inches and bring them back a bit too. Quick look at my local Suzuki dealer turned up a set of 2006 bandit 1200 bars as being about right but .. my bike is the last carbed model so I cannot use the throttle cables from the DL. Does anyone know where i can get a set of longer cables from, or whether any from another model will fit? the mechanic just raised didn't have a clue and a call to suzuki just got the standard "ask your dealer response".

Any help much appreciated

Renthal "Lows", will do the trick, I know I've got them on mine. You will, however, have to hacksaw off about an inch off either side so that the cables stretch. Otherwise it's a doddle:

Look at the state of that garden. Less bike, more care on the homestead, I reckon. No wonder Mrs Jonboy.....ahem.

Try Venhill (www.venhill.co.uk) they make cables for every bike under the sun but also say they make for specials too. I'm sure they'd make you a set of longer throttle cables if you specified how much longer than standard you required.

To be honest though if you need new throttle cables then you're probably going to be looking at a new brake line (or lines if you're running a 2 line setup) and you may have problems with the length of the cables to the switchgear. Oh and a choke cable too...almost forgot that one. Brakeline shouldn't be an issue, an aftermarket supplier like HEL or Goodridge will make you a line any size you want. Switchgear will be the trickiest thing but careful routing of the cables may get you the extra length you need.

I'd try what jonboy has done first and see what you can achieve by leaving everything else stock. You may find it's close enough to what you want to make the hastle of custom cables & lines not worth it.

good luck
