Default Optimate and Accumates

Are there any major differences. My cars dead today as the inside was left on I was thinking about getting one of these anyway for the bike in the winter or if needed. It seems the Optimate is good for the bike but no mention of cars anywhere - where Accumate is cool for any 12v. Anyone use an Optimate on a car battery as well - may as well kill to birds with 1 stone. Suggestions appreciated.

Main difference is the Accumate is suitable for battiries rated up to 75Ah(6V &12V) while the Optimate is rated up to 28Ah(12V).

I had the optimate but got rid of that and now use the datatool version rated up to 75Ah(12V). Have a look at their respective website/prices and if you decide to go for the Datatool , PM me as I should be able to a good deal on one .

Cheers
Ben

Thanks for clarifying that Ben - I sorta need to get one today as I want to get the car sorted - unless you work 20 mins from me?? I spoke to Infinity at Farnborough and she was saying the Optimate works better than the Datatool as i can put the bike on it over winter. I asked if the Datatool trickle charges to and she said yes - but the Optimate does it better... um?? They cost the same though.

same as the Datatool then .

I would have ask if she could explain 'how it does it better' just for the fun of it. You have to test her product knowledge, have you? .

Probably not 20 mins away from you. Where abouts are you anyways? Guildford? I'm in Croydon/Gatwick.

Just had a quck look at their site an dthe datatool the Optimate is £44.99 an dthe Datatool £39.99. Shame you don't have the time as you could have saved may be 25% plus compared to their price.

Cheers
Ben

Thanks Ben - I know where to go for a good deal. Am around Staines area so a little far to hike down.

Cheers for the offer,

Did it take ages to charge? Lady at Jack Lilleys Shop reckons it will take forever on an optimate as the amps are so low - she said to get a car charger one. I thought they worked by speed charging and then switching to trickle mode.

Bought my Optimate about six or seven years ago and it's been great. It will charge a car battery but takes a long time.
