40% surveyed want Sharia law brought in. It's a serious issue on how this minority feel about their involvement in this country, but leaving the serious stuff aside for a moment - what law would you like to live under - you could have tailor made from around the world, cherry-picking the best bits.

I'd imagine there would be quite a popular reaction if some Dutch law enforcement practises was brought in!

Forty per cent of the British Muslims surveyed said they backed introducing sharia in parts of Britain, while 41 per cent opposed it. Twenty per cent felt sympathy with the July 7 bombers' motives, and 75 per cent did not. One per cent felt the attacks were "right".

Err, OK, so the maths doesn't add up there. Twenty percent had sympathy, Seventy-five percent did not. What happened to the other 5%? 40% backed the implimentation of new laws, 41% didn't. I reckon that leaves 19% floating somewhere in the irish sea...

As my old maths teacher said "Lies, lies, lies, and more statistics."

A massive survey of 500 people. You're going to get an accurate represention from that. Still makes nice headlines I guess

As far as I'm concerned THOSE 40% can go f*ck themselves !!

If they wish to live under Sharia Law, then they are free to emigrate to a country that practices it - it might be interesting to see how many would still be in favour

British Law for Britain.

I am not against anyone, be it colour, language, religion etc that makes them different than me, to my mind it is as ridiculous to not like someone or be prejudiced by the colour of there skin as it would be to be because of the colour of their hair or eyes.

And as long as they keep their beliefs to themselves, they can worship a Flying Spaghetti Monster for all I care - just dont try and force his Noodly Goodness on to me.

However, if anyone chooses to come to Britain and doesn't like how we live here then they can just go back where they came from.

A similar poll showed that many Musilms believe all British men to be drunks and British women to be sluts (not sure if it was those EXACT words, but was in that vein).

So what if we are?

Its acceptable to the law in this country to be that way (as long as you dont break the law because of it)

We Brits are already discriminated against in our own country, as a biker, try walking into a post-office wearing your lid, stand next to a lady wearing the full outfit that only leaves her eyes visible, then try and work out why you are a bigger security risk than her (and I dont mean due to terrorism, I mean due to concealed identity.)

I abhor what the BNP stands for and would never want to see them gain any power in the decision makling processes for this country, but you cannot help but see why some people vote for them.

Well enough of my rant.

Dont knows? ie 20% sympathy, 75% none, 5% unsure how they feel?
tbh I can partly understand that. If they are living in a society they like but are on the receiving end of bigotted views that could be very alienating and trying to reconcile that may be the not sure vote.

Again, people who arent sure that its entirely a good idea so wont back the implimentation or not back them.

So are people not allowed to be unsure now without it meaning its all lies?

Lyn, you've been at the weetabix again haven't you?

I made that post half in jest, and half as per Supervox's comments. I fully acknowledge that some people may be undecided and sitting on the fence. But I also know just how much statistics can be twisted (without altering the base data in any way) to show the opinions that are desired by whoever is compiling those statistics.

Personally, for the tiny minority that said the attacks were "just" or "right", I'd like to see a new olympic sport. It'd consist of the said minority jumping metal barriers at the nearest train station, with armed officers trying to spot terrorists disguised as said minority.

Before the whole can of worms opens, no dis-respect to the de Menezes family intended. That case was a tragedy, and the officers involved were, in my opinion, trying to do a very difficult job & help keep the general public at large safe.

I'm trying to see what you are saying but whole episode was far from just a tragedy. It was a complete cluster feck and that's with the aftermath of the shooting.
