Help......Puncture

Hi all,

Whilst on my way home from work last night I got a puncture in the rear tyre. Just as I was pulling off the M3.

At the time I had no phone to call anyone....so decided to limp home with the flat tyre.

This is where I need the help.

1. Does anyone know of a place that repaires or fits new bike tyres in the Sandhurst area?

2. What would you have done in the same situation......as this is something I have never thought about. I was not sure what to do at the time.

3. What is the going rate for a rear tyre?

4. Do any of you use road side assistance for your bikes if so who? I found out last night I am not covered with my car policy (it is with my insurance tho so half expected).

5. Are there any kits available to temporary fix punctures to get you home?

No way! That back tyre was new when you got the bike!

I paid £111 for a new BT020 but they vary from upto about £130.

If you rode home on a flat, you will have probably 'ucked the tyre up, so new tyre for you.

I have AA cover and have doen for over 10 years.

I could't beleive it when I noticed it, it has gutted me, as well as having to pay the 8k service last week.Never thought to ring Stu, but I didn't have my phone anyway. I think I will get a repair kit for the bike (and hopefully never need to use it). My last bike was driven for over 2 years and never even needed the tyres inflating.

I expext that the tyre is buggered, the chance I was willing to take to get the thing home. A lot less expensive than getting back and the bike has gone.

Why did you have to pay for the service? It was free, or at least most of it should have been. When I bought the bike I was told the free servicing stays with the bike not the owner. Mind you they also told me I needed to keep below 50mph for the first 1000 miles!

They're full of cr@p, took it to George Whites, told me that the service would cost me £210 because I was not the original owner. On the back page of the vouchers it says they are non transferable, and they were not going to budge. I felt violated to say the least. I eneded up getting it done as I was off up to middlesbrough 2 days later, I wish they had told me when I dropped the bike off and not when I had got home. I will not spend anther penny in there.

I popped in to there about a month before I got the bike off you and spent over £350 on bits and bobs, never again. I had seen a nice pair of frank leathers in there, but I will find them elsewhere now.

Anyway, got a temporary fix on the tyre its going again, I'll get it to a garage over the weekend to get it fixed or replaced.

Yep, he's a good bloke. Never had him down as the trackday sort though.
