Default Clutch beig a bit tempermental

My clutch got really iffy today. noticed it beofe but it's never been a big deal - till today.

riding thru' London traffic - stop start,s many gear changes etc & I found that pretty soon, I could put my bike into neutral at traffic lights. Then it started to get really heavy to change - it reqwuired a bit off effort, notthe usual quick flick, then at Camden the worst thing happened - I couldn't get out of first gear for about 5 mins.

Do, "They all do that, sir" or is my clutch on the way out?

Puzzled.

Er, based on the usual response here, its probably the oil rather than the clutch, but I am no mechanic so I'll leave it to others to reply.

Mine becomes a little like that in london traffic, a little rev of the engine or small blasts seems to sort it out.

Is it the clutch that got heavy or the gear lever? You need to make the usual adjustments to the clutch cable top and bottom, and lube it,ensure your chain is lubed and adjusted, and think about your engine oil level and how long it is since it was last changed. Then check the pivot on the footrest where the gear lever rotates and lube that up thoroughly. If all that fails start panicing, but that lot normally sorts it.
