Default my sv is cuuting out

Hi i bought my first sv650s k3 last friday i picked it up when it was raining, once i had started riding it home i called for fuel when i tryed to start the bike it would start but just died and cut out eventually it stayed running after about ten mins and rode home spot on, now after it being in garage for 4 days i took it out and did 30 mile on her came to a stop and it just died again doing exactly same, it fires up fine but if the revs drop below 3-4000 it just dies same again it ran fine after about ten mins and several times trying to start it, i thought it must be the damp but this day was sunny and i had done 30 k on it no problem has anyone had the same problem can anyone help thanks Leigh.......

Mine has a similar problem...
If i am caught-out in the rain (even a mild drizzle) the bike will miss-fire and splutter, riding it is feels like being a contestant for a rodeo with the bike launching itself fast then cutting-out repeatedly, once the rain has stopped i need to ride the bike in this condition for about 3 miles until the problem clears.

I suspect that rain is getting into a HT lead and causing one (or more?) of the plugs not to function.
I have thought about turning the front mudguard round the opposite way, so that the longer length of it is to the rear - and hopefully prevent a splash-back getting to the plug located behind the radiator (the angle from the tyre to this possibly could let wet into the plug) although i have not found the time as yet due to other commitments.

my k3 did this the once in the dry, i came to a set of traffic lights and the thing just died? she started up straight away but wouldnt idle, after 5 mins of trying to keep her running by holding the revs at about 4k she settled down nicely and ive never had this problem since, i put it down to a gremlin in the electrics that may have thrown a wobbly.

Sounds like you have water on the front spark plug. Its quite a common issue with SV.

Its easy to fix, you need to undo the bottom two radiator bolts and pull the radiator forward. Then you can remove the front HT lead and then use the tool from the suzuki tool kit to undo the front spark plug.

Dry the front spark out and also dry the HT lead off as well. Refit the spark plug and HT lead. When you refit the HT lead make sure the rubber grommit is seated back into the grove for it. Otherwise the water will get in there again.

This should get your bike running again.

On the RHS off the front cylinder engine casing is a small hole. shove a pipe cleaner or the red tube from a tin of WD40 up this hole and make sure its clear. This is the drain hole so that water can drain away from around the front cylinder so the water doesnt drown the plug.

I've found from experience that once you have got a wet front plug, even if you leave the bike overnight it doesnt dry out. What you need to do is to dry out the front plug and then try starting the bike again.

Theres a couple of ways to fix it, Either fit a fenda extenda, which extends the length of the front mudguard so that water isnt thrown up at the front plug. Or get some silicone non conductive grease from maplins or somewhere. When you refitt the front plug use the grease to seal it up so that water doesnt get in.

Once you've done this and are confident thats it is all dry, try the bike again. If it still cuts out and doesnt run properly. You've got some kind of electrical fault. But I'm not experienced enough to help if its that.
