Sorry if this has been asked before, but I don't often venture to this area of the site!
My other half and I have both got K5's. And have the same problem with our horns. Yesterday we rode home and sat in traffic for about 1/2 hour, when we got home we found that our horns didn't work - the engin's were really hot. The horns are fine when the engine is cold. Has anyone else had this problem? Cheers Nutty Lou |

They do appear to be quite sensitive to heat. When I went on the Kill Spills Rally in central London a few years ago, Baldyman spent so much time bipping his horn that it started to make a croaking sound, and then gave up altogether. When it cooled down, it started to work again, so you might have the same prob, although I would guess that you would really have to have some heat coming off the engine for it to affect it.
I remember from previous bikes that quite often the horn switch used to be affected by corrosion - you don't use it for ages, so it furrs up, and then when you do need it, all you get is a pathetic 'meep' ![]() Find a numpty to test it on everyday ![]() |

My horn used to die when I had been out on the bike for a while because it was too close to the rad, I have bent the arm on the horn so it isn't as close to the rad anymore (closer to the engine) and it has been fine since.

Cheers guys, we're going to try the bending it away from the engine method first, but may replace them with something louder.

YEP!..................
.............K5 horn stops when it feels like it. Normally when someone has just pulled out on you - I reckon it's scared of shouting at anyone. Heat is the culprit. Will look at bending it first. Replacement is already on the to-do list. Garry ![]() |

Well, it's funny how it seems to be a regular problem, yet our local Suzi dealer hadn't heard of it and couldn't help as they were working when we took them in!
And thank you for the horn jokes, I'd been waiting!! ![]() ![]() ![]() Nutty x |
