Successfully fitted the rear brake pedal - after much drillling out & replacing bits etc. Hooray.
But now, I decide to take the bike for a quick spin, & lo: the bike won't start....... Started this morning okay. Easy peasy. Just tried it now: Turned key - all the lights came on. Clutch in, Pressed the ignition & it made a sound like petrol being squirted into the cylinders "maybe"? but no start. Nothing. Kill switch is not engaged.....Any ideas? Don't think looking at Hovis's problem that it's fuel/plugs. Have I unconnected something somewhere? Yours, Bike Killer. |

If it makes a wizzing noise, then it isn't anything like the side stand switch.

Sounds to me like everything is working fine, but for some reason, the power isn't getting to the starter. Fuel but no spark...

How would a curvy squirt fuel?
Sorry, can't help with the problem. |

Don't know if this is related - guessing it *may* be....
wondered if it was a starter motor problem so I wheelled my bike back a bit in neutral (to give me some room on the drive) then I put in it first with the clutch in - my idea being to run the bike forward a couple of metres then release the clutch so that if the starter motor was engaged it would give it a little nudge....BUT even with the clutch in the bike was a complete booger to move in first gear - could this be anything? |

The curvy's fuel pump's vacuum actuated so if the engine's not turning, no fuel- FI bikes, you can hear them pressurise the fuel rail if you listen.
It's often hard to shift a bike in first when the engine's cold, so that's not neccesarily a worry- problems along those linse would slow it when the starter turns it, not stop it entirely unless it was dead. When you hit the starter, do the lights dim? Does it make any noise now when you do it? I'd blame either one of the two cutouts- clutch and sidestand- or a totally dead battery. There's tons of other things it could be but those would be my first choices.

Seriously tho is your starter motor turning the engine over? If not give it a sharp rap with a spanner, mine sticks every now and then. |

Northy:
Yup, the lights dim when I press the ignition - the speedo also goes blank then 888888 like it does when you put the key in. It makes a sound - poss fuel being squirted inot the engine? Fuel pump? Guesing here! Razor: The starter motor doesn't come on/engage. D. |
