Default Rover 75 returns - Shanghai Auto

Shanghai Auto has resurrected the Rover 75 with their all new logo and name, now it's called the "Roewe". Oddly close to the original manufacturers name. This reheating of the 75 platform will possibly be called the 750E.
I always liked the Rover 75's looks. Sort of makes you wonder if the whole Rover incident couldn't have been much better handled.

The deal to save Rover 5 odd years ago was part of its downfall. There was another deal from Audi (I think) that would have meant some redundancies as they would have scaled down production made more of the MG name. I recon Rover would still be around if they had taken it and the workers who would have been made redundant would have got a much better pay out than they did.

I used to work for Rover years ago, and Yes if ever there was a pants car, it was a Rover.

When we took delivery of the 1st Batch of 75's, which were the first to be built under BMW, the doors didn't close properly.

The worst Rover/MG...........MGF!

And why of why does anyone buy those MG ZF/ZT/ZX etc. There a 10 year old car driven through Halfords covered in Superglue!

I don't think Rover as a brand will ever come back. I heard Ford bought the name and are shelving it to protect the Land Rover brand.

Not a bad idea, bet it was costly though.

Didn't the name Rolls Royce or Bentley get flogged but the not the right to make the car or something stupid?

Im quite disappointed really because for all its faults, i actually liked Rover's general design ideas. I used to own a Rover 218 (bubble) which was quick with decent handling. It was pretty well put together inside and i liked the overall design shape. However, it did have flaws associated with the K Series engine and as a result cost me £600 for HG rebuild. I still like the look of the ZR, 75 and ZT however the 45/ZS is long in the tooth. However the build quality on the later models is far worse than my 1997 200. Some of them are quite appaling when you take a closer look.

So Rover's are to be made in China. Why? They were crap when made in metal!

Boom Tish!
