Need Help Using my new Chain Riveter

I just bought this on eBay and am not sure how to use it (no instrucions were provided ) I've never rivited a chain before so any tips/info will be appreciated

Is that everything you got in the pic or is there some more parts? There should be another pressure plate and a riveting plate!!

You should have adapters of several diameters to push out the pins on the old links, one to press on the side plate of your (soft) joining link, and a peening tool to peen over the ends of the soft link.

One tip from someone who's screwed up the job - go easy on the peening as you can split the soft link if you overdo it.

I found some instructions for it from another guy on eBay. Thats all that came with it. The riveting end is not visible in the pic, you have to turn the pin around. It turns out its the one that DID makes......
The problem im having now is that i accidently pushed one of the pins out abount a quarter inch when trying to rivet it (Damn instructions were confusing ) What is the best way to get the pin pushed back in? I need a way that wont make the link any tighter cause its already a bit too tight.....

Can you not just turn it round and use the extractor pin from the other side, pushing it back until it just protrudes a bit again? If it's like the one I use, the base plate you use when peening has a groove to allow the pin to go no further than about half a mm to one mm. If you use that when peening the link should stick through the side plates by the same amount either side when you're done.

Good idea! Will it make the link any tighter though? I'll take a look at it tonight
