Default Tips and pointers

I'm a first time bike ower and needless to say my riding experience is low. With that said, what are some common mistakes that new riders make so I can not make them. Any input will help and thanks.

ps. the bike I bought is a SV650s

Don't ever crash or drop your bike, and you'll be fine

the first and most important tip you all ready know, you know your riding experience is low, lots of new riders think they know it all but there is a lot to learn.
just ride carefully and at your own pace and don't get influenced by others, you'll be fine

Hello , and welcome

Im also a new rider , i start to ride a bike after 10 years driving a car , and had to lose some of the car driver bad habits , one of witch that i have to keep reminding myself, is to always double the distance between my bike and the car between front of me , braking wise bikes aren't as safe as cars , and i already had some scary moments due to being to close to the car in front of me !

There is also the issue with the slippery white lines , manhole covers , and gravel , that require some extra attention !

You should also read this , for some biking tips.

Just ride as much you can and build up your experience and your skill.
Like everyone else said, take it steady and be careful.

I would very highly recommend this as well.

Look where you want to go and not at what you are about to crash into.

Every **** up mistake I made when I was a new rider was because I went to fast into a bend for my ability or experience, I paniced, tensed up and the target fixated on the nearest available hard object which I therefore then ran straight towards.

Go for some extra training, Google IAM and sign up for your nearest centre. It costs around £80 for a years membership and you can get all the help you need. Riding with others really helps too, as long as your not the type to try and follow when out of your depth. OH and get sonme crash bungs, and practice your slow riding every time you go out in a quiet carpark...the list just goes on really
