Teleportation, the end of bikes?

Ok lets say I designed a teleportation device … this would obviously revolutionise the way we travel, would it spell then end of bikes/cars?? What would we all do??

Although I invented this device at he weekend I have decided not to publish the results for selfish reasons

NAH. We'd just be able to get up the minute before we had to be in work. Riding would purely be for pleasure... If it wasn't already.... heheh.

I once had a b/f that said that if they invented such a device the working week would automatically become longer because nobody would have commute time. That free time would either become leisure time or part of the working week. The government/ businesses would probably raise the averagetime that was worked per week.

To be honest it would only make 12 minutes difference per day to me anyway, so I would still use my bike, and cos all the roads would be empty, i'd take the long way in

I'd love a teleportation device. I'd move to somewhere like New Zealand, live by the beach and then teleport into work each night. Still it would probably screw my body clock up!

I'd still ride, but for pleasure rather than commuting.

I have taken your teleportation device and reverse engineered it to be a replicator.

Now I can download detailed models from the internet and create any bike I want, so no, it would not be the end.

I also have modified it so that if my bike detects that it has come to a sudden stop due to impact, or it has leant over too far it will teleport me and the bike home, having corrected lean angle to be 0.

New Zealand - good choice - its where I will end up in the next few years.

Body clock can be sorted out easily - you would become accustomed to it - just have loads of daylight bulbs at work

Is it the sort that actually transports you, or is it the sort that scans you, makes a copy, and destroys the old one? That could make all the difference...

I'm imagining not having to ride on the motorway for half an hour, then a bunch of a-roads, before I get to the duke's pass. Just teleport right in by the hotel. Or alternatively, straight to Deal's Gap, or the road of your choice. Great...
