Anyone who deliberately drives a vehicle at someone should be done for attempted murder in my view. And the penalty should be exactly the same as if their attempt had been successful.
It's a far more culpable crime than say negligence, which is usually a human failing rather than a deliberate act.Our legal system seems not to see it that way though.

But in the eyes of the law, he would be driving it at the vehicle surely. If the officer was in the car it'd be different

Batons do that, they are not the best on windows. Best bet is the end of a pair of quick cuffs! Seems to work ok

And yes, I agree, those were deliberate acts to ram both an innocent MOTP and officers. But I bet he was only charged with dangerous driving (plus theft, no licence, no insurance) and was given a really good slap on the wrist by the courts. After all, we wouldn't want to infringe on his human rights too much now would we? Community service? I would reather have to go out, clean my area myself and see people like that languish in gaol.

And.................relax.......ah....thats better!

If youve ever had to brake a car window you'd be suprised just how tough it is. And those relatively flimsy batons just dont seem to be up to the job. I guess the handle would work better but it the heat of the moment you can see how instinct took over.

The driver should have been hanged from the nearest lamp post imho.

Bladdy hell! I know they're trained for it but how'd the cops keep their cool after that? Even I would want to give him a kicking and I've never been in a fight in my life!
