In pursuit of a lumpy idle I have removed the air-box. I'm now having a lot of trouble getting it to re-seat on the carb intakes
![]() Is there a trick? A subtle nuance? A special prayer maybe? If so, please share! I've stopped for a cup of tea followed by one more go and then that's it! Wait for advice.... Help! |

Of course a cup of tea doesn't really work without a couple of choccy digos or some hob nobs..
![]() Thanks for the help. I'll be out there with renewed vigour then |

Try spraying the rubber seats with WD40 and it should slide on easily and don't forget to check that the crank case breather hoses are connected or you will spray oil all over the place!!

I had trouble with mine to. It worked much better with a squirt of lube on the bits of the airbox that seat onto the carbs and also I found that if I wiggled / rocked it a few times with some gentle downwards pressure, that worked better than just trying to push it down hard in one go. I fitted it to the front carb first and then wiggled it down onto the back carb.
Oh and the tip about the crankcase breather hoses is a good one, ( dont ask ![]()

IIRC I normally seat the front cylinder one first(more or less fully in) then the rear. Same way for the carbs.
Once both are in a slight wiggle push to make sure all is well. Don't pust down too hard or you'll end up with the airbox seperated from the tubes that clamp it to the carbs. Cheers Ben |

I had similar problems but it was really easy once I'd removed the filter and put my hand in through the top of the airbox.
Good Luck |

![]() You are supposed to clean the clamping area before taking them off(well I do). That's the bit I hate most when taking the airbox or carbs off. As you say, so much crap collects in that area. Oh..as an aside it's stuff like that that a bit worried of others working on my bikes. I may be a bodger at times ![]() Cheers Ben |
