Default SV Clutch again :(

Right guys/gals my clutch on my 650 is really getting on my nerves now.

Problem is the adjuster(top and bottom) have to be wound out almost to the end of their adjustment to get it working remotely acceptable.

The worm goblit is fairly new(though have had to clean it out once) and correctly adjusted, cable is brand new and clutch does slip under power.

Any ideas. Mucho thanks.

Cheers
Ben

Yeah, I get told that sometimes so you could be on to something . Don't think that is the case with the cable though

I would have thought the worm after my recent experience as I fitted a new cable and still had the same problem with adjustment until the worm finally snapped. But if you have inspected it then we should rule that out.

The only other thing I can think of is I remember reading in a thread somewhere that the faired and naked clutch cables are different lengths. But I'm not sure which is longer or for that matter what you ride! Just a thought...

Mine was too long... so I rerouted it round some corners... that sorted it. (could have swapped it for the right one but that was too much hassle)

S_hunter , you could well be right still. The worm is definitely less than 10000 miles old(maybe 7000). I decided to clean it out and regrease as it looked like it could do with some greasing. At thirty odd quid it's a bit annoying if it really needs another one. I've probably got one on my spare engine so might try that and see.

I've got the right cable(unfaired cable) but did also try a faired cable just to eliminate that as well. Definitely not the cable as I've got a cable for a naked SV on another 650 with clipons and that's fine.

We'll see if a different worm makes a difference.

I've found the worm is a bit of a nightmare, but then where its located it does tend to get a lot of crap thrown at it. I'll have to check mine soon due to the weather I've been riding in...
